The Lions Roar at Retail Zoo:Jeff Allis to become Executive Chairman, Scott Meneilly to become CEO

The Board of Retail Zoo www.retailzoo.com.au today announced that CEO Jeff Allis has been appointed to the role of Executive Chairman, and Scott Meneilly has been appointed to the role of CEO from 1 July 2013.

Scott, 41, is currently CEO of Boost Juice Bars and COO of Retail Zoo.  He has more than 20 years in retail, hospitality and quick service sectors.  He joined Boost Juice Bars in June 2008 and since then has worked in every part of the business.

In making the announcement Retail Zoo Executive Chairman Jeff Allis said the CEO role is best fulfilled by the executive most connected to the frontline operations of the company.  There is nowhere to hide in retailing, and double-digit growth in year-on-year profit is testament to Scott’s success.

“The decision to appoint Scott as CEO was based on him being pivotal to running Retail Zoo’s brands – Boost Juice Bars, Boost International, Boost Foundation, Salsa’s Fresh Mex Grill, Cibo Espresso and Chicken Central.

“Scott is, in my mind, the best all round executive I have ever worked with in my career.

“There is no doubt sharing his inspiration across every facet of the business as CEO will be incredible for the Retail Zoo.  This is Scott’s time, and as Executive Chairman I will continue to be here for him at every turn.  I’m in awe of his ability,” he said.

Scott said when the opportunity to join Boost Juice came along, he jumped at the opportunity.

“What I have discovered over the years is that Boost became one of the truly great Australian success stories because of its very real, hands-on approach to business to every element, every day. The business is fit; lean and way more advanced that its years.

“Each week over the past five years, I have learned a new lesson by being pushed, guided and challenged by some of the most talented people in the country.  In that time, Retail Zoo has become its own brand and as it has grown, I have grown along with it and am emotionally connected as if it were my own.

“In some way it would be fantastic if this were a surprise to me however carefully crafted strategy and forward-planning means everyone here gets groomed ready for the next great thing. Getting to put my name to the business in its next chapter is incredibly exciting and a great honour for me. I cannot wait to roll through the next financial year and continue the highs,” he said.

As Executive Chairman, Jeff Allis focuses on Retail Zoo’s business platform ensuring it is primed to replicate the success of its brands across other businesses.  Janine Allis continues as Director of Retail Zoo, working actively in and on the business.
