The Board

  • Janine Allis
    Janine AllisCHAIRMAN

    Janine is the founder of Boost and Retail Zoo and has remained on the Board since 2000. She is one of Australia’s most respected business women having earned many accolades including Telstra Businesswoman of the Year, Amex Franchisor of the Year, ARA Retailer of the Year and was inducted into the Australian Business Women Hall of Fame as well as being listed by BRW as one of top 15 people who have changed the way we do business in the last 20 years.

    Janine is currently non-executive director on the boards of API and kogan.com and an Ambassador for UNHCR.

  • Georgina Varley
    Georgina VarleyManaging Director

    Georgina Varley is a Managing Director at Adamantem Capital. Prior to joining Adamantem Capital, Georgina worked in private equity as an Investment Director at Archer Capital (2017-2018) and an Investment Director at Arowana International (2013-2016). She also worked at Macquarie Group (Sydney and London) from 2006-2013 in investment banking and principal investment.  Georgina sits on the board of Heritage and is Chair of Climate Friendly 

    Georgina holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sydney. 

    • Rob Koczkar
      Rob KoczkarManaging Director

      Rob Koczkar is a Managing Director of Adamantem Capital. His experience spans private equity, public company directorships, strategy and social impact investing.

      He was Chief Executive Officer of Social Ventures Australia from 2014 to 2018, a Managing Director of PEP from 2004 to 2014 and a Principal with Texas Pacific Group from 2002 to 2004. Rob also spent seven years with Bain & Company, advising clients on issues relating to strategy, mergers, and operating improvements in a wide range of industries.

      Rob received a BEng (Hons.) in Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering from the University of Melbourne. Rob currently sits on the board of Hygain, Zenitas, Climate Friendly, Retail Zoo and oversees Advara HeartCare.  He also serves as the Chair of Social Ventures Australia.

      • Chris Garlick
        Chris GarlickCHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

        Chris was appointed Retail Zoo CEO in November 2024.

        Chris was previously CEO of Starbucks Australia for 10 years, where he led the brand transformation and business turnaround of Starbucks in Australia. He also spent 2 ½ years at Coles Supermarkets as General Manager of Non-Food. Prior to Coles, Chris was at BP for 16 years in a variety of retail and marketing roles, including leading the Convenience Retail Business in Australia and Vice President of Product & Offer Development for BP America based in Chicago.

        Chris has an MBA from the Australian Graduate School of Management (AGSM) and has completed various Sales & Marketing programs at Kellogg Graduate School of Management. His undergraduate degree is a Bachelor of Arts (Hons).

        • Matt Jackman
          Matt JackmanChief Financial Officer

          Matt commenced as Retail Zoo CFO in June 2025.
          He is a chartered accountant with significant executive and leadership experience in retail and other sectors.

          Matt began his career in professional services spending 6yrs at KPMG, before joining global transport and logistics business Toll Group in 2011 where he held various leadership roles across both the Global Express Division and then at the Group level including Head of Finance.

          Matt joined ASX listed retail group Myer in 2017 where he spent nearly 8yrs, most recently as Group Chief Financial Officer.

          • Lisa Fisher
            Lisa FisherChief People Officer

            Lisa has over 20 years’ industry experience in retail and QSR in both HR and Operational roles.  Prior to joining Retail Zoo, Lisa worked for large franchise companies including Yum! Brands and 7-Eleven and Delaware North Companies.  Lisa is responsible for all HR activities across our three brands.

            • Ceri Clark
              Ceri ClarkGeneral Counsel and Company Secretary

              Ceri has been General Counsel and Company Secretary of Retail Zoo since 2016.

              He has over 12 years’ industry experience and prior to Retail Zoo, Ceri provided inhouse legal advice to large and well-known organisations in both Australia and the United Kingdom including Spotless Group in Australia and the Big Lottery Fund in the United Kingdom.

              • Joanne Bradley
                Joanne BradleyManaging Director - Betty's Burgers

                Joanne has over 25 years’ retail industry experience. At Retail Zoo she has contributed across a range of roles including Chief Marketing Officer, Managing Director for Boost and currently Managing Director for Betty’s Burgers.

                Joanne is a people-focused leader with a focus on strategic growth, operational excellence and champions a customer-centric business approach.
                Prior to Retail Zoo, Joanne was the Chief Marketing Officer of Porter Davis and on the management team at Fernwood Women’s Health Clubs.

                • Ed Burnes
                  Ed BurnesChief Technology Officer

                  Ed has more than 25 years’ industry experience and has led a series of IT transformation programs for large enterprise customers globally.

                  Prior to joining Retail Zoo, Ed held several executive roles, including leading the IT function for Treasury Wine Estates, where he worked for more than 10 years. He is a highly professional executive, with outstanding leadership skills and well-developed strategic ability.

                  • Kathy Craig
                    Kathy CraigChief Commercial Officer

                    Kathy joined Retail Zoo in June 2025, bringing with her extensive experience in retail property development and operations. She returns to the sector after three years as Chief Operating Officer at Essendon Fields, where she was responsible for the airport, a diverse property portfolio, facilities management, and an on-site hotel.

                    Prior to that, Kathy spent a decade at BP in a range of asset-related roles, including project management and property, with a strong focus on the strategic planning and execution of network development across Australia and New Zealand. With deep expertise in property, network development, project delivery, and asset management, Kathy is committed to driving Retail Zoo’s continued growth and innovation—delivering quality assets for our customers, business partners, and team members.
